If you live on or around bushfire prone areas, you should have a fire blanket for home and your car.

Meeting and exceeding the AS4824 standard for Wildland Firefighting, the R2 Personal Protection Blanket is used in trucks and vehicles operated by the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Creswick Woollen Mills have developed Personal Protection Blankets with the Country Fire Authority and NSW Rural Fire Service for over 20 years.

ARAMID - WHAT IS IT?
Aramid fibres are a class of heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibres (high density nylon). This fibre, which handles similarly to normal textile fibres, is characterized by its excellent resistance to heat, as it neither melts not ignites in normal levels of oxygen. It is used extensively in the production of protective apparel, air filtration, thermal and electrical insulation as well as a substitute for asbestos. Aramid demonstrates:
- No melting point - degradation starts at 500 degrees Celsius
- Low flammability
- High tenacity
- Good resistance to abrasion
- Good resistance to organic solvents
- Non conductive

WHY ARE PERSONAL PROTECTION BLANKETS SO IMPORTANT?

  • Protection from radiant heat
  • Protection from ember attacks

A personal protection blanket will help protect you from radiant heat. Radiant heat is the heat you feel from a fire and it’s the biggest killer in a fire.

Personal protection blankets will also help protect you from ember attacks, such as burning twigs, leaves and pieces of debris landing and catching fire.

Fire services encourage those who drive in bushfire prone areas to keep a woollen blanket in their car. Having an R2 Personal Protection Blanket in your car or home during a bushfire emergency could be a lifesaver.
